Company Video

Video Will Be 80% of Web Traffic by 2019

April 12, 2018 by K-Kom

According to a study conducted by Cisco, the love of video watching will continue to increase for the foreseeable future.

Humans are visual creatures, which is why quality photos and videos have become a vital part of social media and website development.

“Every second, 1 million minutes of video content will cross the network by 2021.” (source)

YouTube

We process visual data better than any other kind – 90% of data transmitted to the brain is visual – and images are processed 60,000 times faster than text! (source) I think most of us can attest to learning a job or task better after seeing it. These simple observations illustrate why, not only photos, but videos have become so popular, and increasingly so.

“It would take someone 5 million years to watch every video added to the internet every single month in 2021.” (source)

Live Internet Video

Live video streaming on various social media and other websites has started to gain popularity as well (13%), especially for major events that have lost their audiences on traditional television. Younger generations almost expect these events to be available live on YouTube and Facebook (eg. New York’s New Year’s party).

Not Using Video Yet?

Because our attention spans on the internet are 8 seconds or less, if you’re not using video, you’re definitely losing new customers and sales.

Fun Facts

  • Webpages with videos get 800% HIGHER sales rates than pages without video
  • Video DOUBLES the time people spend on your site
  • Video produces 157% INCREASE in organic traffic (traffic from Google)

What This Means for Your Business

Any business not incorporating video into their content strategy by this year will likely be left in their competitor’s dust. People are visual. The preference to watch a video over reading 10 pages of text will continue to increase over the coming years. Consider your customers and find out what they would prefer to see in a visual manner.

Some Ideas…

  • No matter what your industry, there is a place for video.
  • Interviewing the company owner and employees gives the business a personal feel.
  • Video testimonials build a high level of trust, as well as an emotional element for new customers, that text will never compare to.

Other Possibilities…

  • Stream a trade show live (especially when revealing something new).
  • Offer a facility tour or a look behind-the-scenes.
  • Give a sneak peak at new products or services.
  • Flash sales.
  • How-to or explainer videos.
  • Answers to FAQs.
  • and more…

What Types of Marketing Does My Business Need? Part 4: Content Marketing and Video

June 27, 2017 by K-Kom

The following is a graph showing the search engine volume of searches for “content marketing” over the last five years, compared to “tv advertising”, and it appears that a new trend is afoot (Google Trends). Not only are more people incorporating a content strategy into their businesses, but some of these people could be, and probably are, your own competitors.

Video Marketing

Here are some stats that, if you don’t have a video marketing plan in motion already, will make you get on it today!

  • Cisco estimates internet video traffic will account for about 80% of all consumer internet traffic by 2019.
  • According to various surveys, people of all ages prefer watching videos to reading text for reasons like product comparison and newsletters.
  • Visual is remembered far more frequently than text.
    • 80% of users recall video they watched in the last 30 days.
  • Social video generates 1200% more shares than text and images combined.
  • Companies using video earn 41% more web traffic than companies without.

Probably most importantly, videos are found to generate more conversions/sales than any other type of content – 74% of users who watched an explainer video about a product or service bought it. As well, companies with video grew their revenue year-over-year 49% faster than those without(!).

If you’re unsure how a video marketing strategy could help your business, we might have some ideas to get your started. You can also start with a brand video telling the story about your company and how it came to be, some history, why you’re different from your competitors, etc. This increases the trust factor for new clients a ton.

Content Marketing

Technically, content can include videos, since videos are indeed content, as well as photos, blogs, newsletters, infographics, webinars… essentially any information shared online. The key here is to pick a variety, be consistent about it, and provide real, extra value to your ideal customers.

Any business nowadays really should have some sort of content strategy in place, and not just in someone’s head, but written down, as this produces more measurable results.

It’s also good to cooperate and meet regularly with other departments to integrate many areas into the content, to really produce a cohesive image of the entire brand and message of the business.

If you’re like many business owners, you likely are far too busy running the business to deal with this ongoing task. As well, assigning it to other people in the company often results in it being the last priority, unorganized, forgotten about, etc. That’s why hiring professionals to handle this for you ensures it’s done consistently and efficiently, without wasting any company resources in the meantime. Contact the professionals at K-Kom, Inc. to learn more about how a content strategy would increase your sales.
